Thomas Edison took advantage of Tesla. Everyone says "he kept trying, not knowing if it would work" no, he knew it would work because Tesla discovered it would work. Edison tried to claim AC power (which we all use) was too dangerous by stealing pets and electrocuting them because there was more profit that could have been made from DC power (thankfully his claims didn't work, so we all use safe cheaper AC power today).
