Eckhart asserts that we don’t use the essence identity for anything. Rather, connecting to our essence identity allows it to lead us in evaluating right action in any circumstance. Subscribe to find greater fulfillment in life:

Eckhart Tolle is widely recognized as one of the most original and inspiring spiritual teachers of our time. He travels and teaches throughout the world.

Eckhart is not aligned with any particular religion or tradition, but excludes none. His profound yet simple and practical teachings have helped thousands of people find inner peace, healing and greater fulfillment in their lives. At the core of his teachings lies the transformation of individual and collective human consciousness – a global spiritual awakening.

Eckhart Tolle is the author of The Power of Now, a #1 New York Times Bestseller, which has been translated into 32 languages and become one of the most influential spiritual books of our time.

In his most recent book, A New Earth, he shows how transcending our ego-based state of consciousness is not only essential to personal happiness, but also the key to ending conflict and suffering throughout the world.

  1. Almost 10 years ago read the power of now and was forever transformed. I'm so grateful for also having the audio as I listen to him on the road for grasping reminders. In every creature there is its essence ??

  2. I feel I would be at peace in Eckharts presence, but do other people feel as I do that they are somehow in between an old way of being (how I used to justify things) and a half awareness? I feel lonely with some of the people around me, as the old way of justifying the pains of life don't work anymore, they feel empty. An example is that I've upset someone at work by saying something silly (idle gossip as my grandmother would say) and I feel such pain because someone has been hurt and the old ways of pretending and ignoring reality don't help, so I'm left with the empty feeling.

  3. Usually I wouldnt understand what he was talking about but watching this I realize that Eckhart actually struggles to explain it with words. I know what he is talking about because I can feel it. He could actually just sum up the question with something like " you are not who you think you are" or something like that. Because in the end you are the "it" that he is talking about. Well now I realize why Eckhart struggles.. You cant actually explain it..

  4. When did you start talking about identity, aka ego? This is disappointing. Sounds like you're catering to the subjectivities of transactivists, who are light years away from any essence.

  5. Jesus said, "Believe you not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you i speak not of myself: but the Father that dwells in me, he does the works." John 14:10 .. Also in 2 Corinthians 5:17 it is written "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold all things are become new." I find it interesting if Tolle had said Father instead of Essence Identity he would have sounded just like Jesus.

  6. for all these questions around the HOW of being present/aware, at least in my own journey since i found this close to 5 years ago…

the one nearly single answer to it I have found for myself is: THRU MEDITATION.

secondarily: exercise, and studying teachings like eckhart.

but far and away the one thing for me that makes all of this work (and it has… I am no longer suicidal, don't even think those thoughts ever now) is MEDITATION.
