  1. i think, when you make it a big deal could become a problem, self talk itself is not a problem when you know and you're aware that u have control on changing the thoughts u have or the talking you are doing to yourself; part of the talking is from the subconscious mind if you just let it run by itself goes automatic thoughts and if they're negative thoughts can cause you problems eventually,

  2. i dont think self talk in the head means like u keep thinking and talking about random stuff that dosent matter i do this at night when im trying to sleep i keep thinking of random stuff that dosent matter and cant sleep

  3. It happens to me mostly in the night. Excessive trivial self talk. I realize it while I am doing it, I try to be in now. But I find myself struggling with letting the thoughts be there and loose 3-4 hours of precious sleep time. Putting attention on body does not work most of the times. How can I sleep better ?

  4. Noticing resistance to what is… be it self talk, a situation or person… That is where you can become free… Be a yes to what is not a no… from yes the choices do not create negative consequences…

  5. so… the key to self talk in the head is to realize you have self talk in the head. Obviously if someone's question is: what is the key to stop the self talk in the head––they already know they have self talk in the head.

  6. That's the most unhelpful answer I've ever heard. The thing to do with negative self-talk is to replace it with positive self-talk. The minute you catch yourself thinking a negative thought, immediately contradict yourself and assert the opposite, like this:

    I messed up again, I'm such a screw-up — NO! I'm really very competent.

It also helps to start each day by telling yourself that you're competent, reminding yourself of competent things you have done, and challenging yourself to be competent all day by asking your subconscious: Can I be competent all day today? (I've used competence as an example, use whatever you are having a problem with.)

  7. You are the observer of thought. Thought is not observing you. Realize that. and You are free. Whatever happens in your mind is not real. Mind is a tool, like a knife or a hand. It couldn't exist without you.
Stop wanting to get rid of your thoughts. Let every thought come. You are not a negative thought nor a positive thought. You are the observer of thought. Total acceptance and letting go of control and you realize how your mind starts to quiet down and turns into a loyal servant. I'm actually enjoying thinking after years of extreme anxiety. There is NO point in replacing negative thoughts with positive ones. It's like going against Mike Tyson in his prime. You will not. win. that. fight. The key is to step out of the ring. This is what Eckhart means.

  8. that was a total non-answer to a serious question.and of course someone wanting to be free of negative self-talk knows it has been happening….and why say he won't say much because he has talked about it before? not everyone had known of him "before." ..or had heard him talk about it before..sad day for anyone genuinely hoping to hear at least a little bit of wisdom in this upload..seems quite unlike eckhart to leave a listener hanging like that..just smh..he approves these uploads? or completely delegates??

  9. At the point where communication seems egotistical but I have to use it…. Tolle has helped raise the quality of being. Omnipresence is so fucking powerful! Love you all.

  10. When my mind starts to self talk I think of his analogy of a dog following the scent of something and becoming completely immersed in where the scent leads. It reminds me to that thoughts lead to more and more tumbling over into one another and to stop following the train of thought and be present.
