  1. While my journey isn't as extreme as this, I have the same experience. I used to be a marketing executive for an IT firm many years ago, and I hated my job. I made good money, company car, free phone, stock options, the works. But I hated what I was doing, day in and day out.
    I was lucky enough that I could quit, get a bachellors in education, and become a teacher instead. Come this summer I've been doing it for 17 years and I haven't looked back once. Sure, I make less money, but I love what I do. I love teaching, I love seeing my pupils blossom, and I love the connections I make with both the children and their parents.
    If you can make a living doing what you love, please go do that. It may not buy you a mansion or a Lamborghini, but your life will be a lot better for it.
