  1. This appears completely staged. The Speaker always chose the audience memeber, either through the cards (remember he carefully selected cards to decide with whom to speak) or himself calling an audience member when blindfolded. He never randomly asked for someone from audience to participate in this event.

  2. Remeber the old days when the store would take your credit card and make an impression with carbon paper? Same principle. Except these days they make more complex types of paper. And they look like clipboards that may or may not be used to write down question on, handed to you by a volunteer, at a magic show.

The 2nd one. Allen, well, he was wearing a name tag. Not sure how Darren guessed that stuff. But these sorts of things have been done since the 19th/early 20th century. Some of it is suggestion, some of it is probability, most of it is straight trickery.

And some of it is also audience members playing along for fun, not wanting to ruin a good show.

  3. Each attendee has a name tag and could be easily researched online within seconds to minutes. To make it to TED, people would surely have established some kind of web presence via tech, entertainment, design, or business skills.

The names correspond to the initials on the black envelopes, so maybe an assistant provides information quickly or that info is gathered during a break that we do not see in this video. I'm not sure how Allan Lever at the end is researched so well as to guess his password (maybe some WiFi hacking?). But note that Allan is in the front and center (easy for Derren to spot and study).

I wonder if the mic switch (in ear vs. out of ear) is important…

  4. Is it possible that the story he told all of us, and was honest about it, is that the people in the crowd arent working with him. and we were dumb enough to believe it? i caught for a split second the guy move his mic from the hand to the other BEFORE the guy told him to

  5. Derren will tell you that there is no such thing as the supernatural or pyschic abilities.
He doesn't believe in his own ability..
He thinks what he does is logic..he is partly correct.. apart of his talent is logic however, he is connected to Source, therefore he has psychic abilities.
Derren, believed in God one time ago , and Derren has even mentioned that he used to be a "happy, clappy Christian" … But something changed his Faith. Which can happen to alot of us..
I don't want to be presumptuous about him but this could be for a few reasons..

You will see in one particular episode of his, Derren tries to convince people that God isn't real…
To those who truly believe in The Divine Creator Consciousness, this foolishness should not fool you..
Derren's game is strong in this episode but it's easy to see that he's using The Creator's tools ?✨

I've been studying him for years..
He has a personal issue with God at the minute nevertheless he is of the highest quality at what he does and may his art bring each of you inspiration and insight to the possibilities and meanings of what it is to be human and to be here..
All that is needed is Faith and Focus
    … ❤️

  6. Sorry to spoil your fun here but this is simply mind raping to me. My mother was killed this way. She was ill, had a weak heart and a jolly good fellow abused her this way until she died.

  7. I actually agree with him, I've been fighting cancer for nearly 2 decades now and up to 2 years ago I pretended that I was brave and a fighter. I wore that mask for so long I truly believed in my own delusion but 2 years ago it had spread to my brain and that mask I wore fell off very quickly. After the tumours in my brain had died off I've been stuck in my own head for a long time now and I've come to realise that I'm a lot more broken than I thought. We all tell ourselves a story of our lives and it is a very glossed over picture but it's a lie I've told so many people who have asked how I'm feeling. I even lied so convincingly to my oncologist that I was okay to the point that before it spread to my brain he asked me if I was open to council other patients and I'm so very glad I said no.

  8. The explanation about how he does it is often quite simple. Rule one: never ever trust Derren on anything he says. If he says he's not using actors in the audience, don't believe him. No camera tricks? Don't believe him. In 2009 he said he wasn't using any camera tricks in the lottery prediction. A tiny error in the setup made one of the lottery balls going up slightly on screen, giving away that he used a split-screen. I watched all of his shows before that period, but stopped after that one. Just incidentally ended up here, and it's again the same nonsense. How he did it? The explanation is boringly easy (that's why people don't believe it, because they wabt to believe it's exciting). Allan is playing along and he's seen the cards before and memorized the info, marked the evelopes and the additional info about those persons has been googled/facebooked.

  9. Went to see Derren Las night at The Lowery Theatre the third time I manage to see him. His show The Showman was spectacular and the most emotional show that I have ever seen.
    Thank you

  10. It’s entertaining. But. Get someone’s name in attendance in advance – search them on social media – see who has something top of mind today – and hand pick those targets. Before the internet they interviewed the audience beforehand to accomplish the same thing.

  11. How do we know for certain Darren didn't pre-collaborate with the interviewees in the audience before peforming on stage?

How do we know for certain he didn't memorize the entire performance, and the cards just part of the narrative he supplies us with?

  12. We saw Mr. Brown live and I was part of the last act, brought up on stage and it was truly amazing and definitely an unforgettable moment in my life. People kept approaching me after the show to ask if i was part of the act. Truly a wonder evening ,Thank you sir!

  13. I think when he said I'll take it to Jessica after saying a little murmur approval has made her she saying I'll take it I'm taking after he was guessing her age and it facilities things to him more by body language of both of them

  14. This is incredible.

He has the members of the audience giving him the answers to his questions and noone can see it.

The level of understanding human behaviour and what makes us tick is incredible.

  15. This is still so great. I also love that watching this again after three years, I start to think about it more. When he gets the name Allan spot on, first I thought it was just an educated guess that feels impressive, where he just says a name suitable for the age group that he has in front of him. But then I noticed all these people have cards with their name on it. He probably just read the name Allan of the card before he blindfolded himself and took a good look at the guy too. Doesn't explain everything he does next, but I'm sure that's part of it…
