  1. Behold, I come bearing gifts. Just spent half an hour typing this out because I couldn't find a text version of this speech anywhere. Here you go:

    Eric Thomas – I Can, I Will, I Must.

Where you guys are, everybody going to be trying to give 100, so you gotta go 120, right? When I tell you motivation is life, within the next hundred days, I need you to stay plugged in, right? Because the days you’re not plugged in, are the days you don’t get 120.

They say an alligator is so ferocious it’ll kill a lion. But I can kill an alligator with my bare hands. They say when you wanna kill an alligator, you kill it right after it eats. Cause right after it eats, it gets satisfied, and it goes into a state like it’s almost paralyzed. Some of y’all in this room, are you paralyzed? You had a little success? You’ve done what nobody else in your family has done and now you chillin? Come on! You ain’t hungry no more? The next hundred I need you to stay focused! Why? You should still be hungry! What have you eaten that’s got you satisfied? What have you done? What have you accomplished that got you so full?

I’m a contender but the next hundred are gonna change my life. It’s gonna change this world. We’re ordinary people doing extraordinary things.

If that’s you and you feeling me just say ‘I can’.

    “I can”

Come on, come on, I can.

    “I can”

I can, come on one more time.

    “I CAN”

    I will.

    “I will”

    I must.

    “I must”

Alright, come on, come on, I’m gonna put some context into it. They sent my mother-in-law home eight years ago, the cancer metastasized throughout her whole body. They were like, ‘There ain’t nothin we can do for you, go home, spend time with your family’. And people was like, ‘Yep, that’s it for her’. She says, “Not it for me.” And I said, “What do you mean, ‘it’s not over for you’? The doctors said it.” She said, ‘I don’t care about a doctor. I gotta see my grandson graduate from hight school.’ He’s a junior now at Michigan State University. She said, ‘I gotta see my granddaughter graduate, they’re my only two grandkids. I gotta see my granddaughter graduate from high school, and she graduates in June.’ She said, ‘After that I might die. But up until then, I ain’t going nowhere.’

Are you hearing what I’m telling you? And what we said to each other is, ‘I can get through this. I will get through this. I must get through this.’

So I just need you to think about three people in your family that you love. Three people. You got ‘em? They there? You got ‘em? Here’s what I need you to do for me. Cause some of you have a hard staying motivated for a straight hundred days. So what I need you to do for me is I need you to think about those people every day when you’re doing what you’re doing. You have some days when you wanna hit the snooze button? Raise your hand for me. You wanna hit the snooze button, right? So watch this, this is what has to happen. That person that you think about has to be louder than the snooze button. So when you think about Granny, you gotta think about, ‘Do I hit the snooze button? Or do I get up and make it happen for Granny?’

Are you hearing what I’m saying? Who are you doing this for? So the days you don’t feel like getting up, just think about them! Somebody tell me in this room, when you think about your siblings, when you think about mom, your dad and grandma, when you think about your uncle or aunt. When you think about cultures, those people who have been there for you, just raise your hand. You say, ‘Sleep is better than that!’ Just raise your hand and tell me, anybody in the room, ‘Sleep is better than them!’ Raise your hand!

Somebody tell me, ‘You don’t get it, you don’t know how hard it is!’ I probably don’t. I just lived in an abandoned buildings, a.i. trash cans, I probably don’t. Maybe I ain’t never been through what you’ve been through, but I’ve been through my go through. And you don’t get here by quitting when you’re tired. You get here by quitting when you’re finished! When you’re done! You don’t stop when you’re tired. You stop when you’re done. You stop when you’ve completed, when you’ve executed. Execution is worship! And so I execute for my mom, I execute for my grandma, I execute for my sister. I execute for those kids in the hood, who’re looking for a role model. That’s why I wear the hat with a PhD. That’s why I wear the js, so that when the kids in the hood look at me they say, ‘If ET can do it, I can do it!’ That’s why I can’t quit and give up, even though I get tired just like everybody else. Why? Because this is what I do, this is my way. This is your way, you gotta murder it! So I ask you, if you got energy, don’t play with me! When I say I hear you got that energy for the next hundred days, I need to feel your soul in this room, alright?

    I can!

    “I can”

    Come on, I can!

    “I can”

    Come on, I Can!

    “I can!”

    I will!

    “I will!”

    I must!

    “I must!”

    Come on, I CAN!

    “I can!”

    I WILL!

    “I will!”

    I MUST!

    “I must!”

Come on give yourselves some energy. Alright we wish you the best, we love you.

You. 100. Let’s get it done.

  5. I just barely got through my study last year, my grades were bad, so me and my teachers agreed that I could stay at the study but I needed to do it a level lower which is level 3, and not 4 which I did the first 2 years.
Did not have motivation at all, kept on snoozing every morning, always late and bad grades, I barely studied.
Just started watching ET a few weeks ago and it’s the best motivation ever, am already getting better grades and I know that I Will finish this last year of level 3, after that I need one more year to finish level 4, my goal.
Am working with a complete different mindset now and am determined to finish this study,
And ET will help me get through this??❤️
    ‘I can’
    ‘I Will’
    ‘I must’
Btw sorry for the bad English, love from the Netherlands ??

  6. I was absolutely terrified of higher education, I still am. I constantly would sign up classes and then immediately withdraw right after. I was just so terrified of failure. I was too afraid to see what happens. ET changed my life. After seeing him for the first time in a video and hearing him dare me to see it through to the end, I have no idea what inside of me took him up on his challenge, but I did. A hs dropout who ended up going to university of Michigan and 3 semesters straight A’s, deans list, etc. i still have some more work to do, I still constantly face my fears of academic failure, but I know now that I have it in me to make this happen. I have it in me not be the one that people gave up on. I have it in me to see it through to the end…win, lose, or draw…i refuse to quit or give up ever again. People laugh when i tell them I’m after that PHD. I came too far to turn back and I CAN. I WILL. I MUST.

Thank you, ET. You changed my life and everyone else around me. You lit that fire and opened my eyes when I was blind to see.
