Eckhart Tolle is a spiritual teacher and author, born in Germany and educated at the Universities of London and Cambridge. At the age of 29 a profound inner transformation radically changed the course of his life. He devoted the next several years to understanding, integrating, and deepening that transformation. With his international bestsellers, The Power of Now and A New Earth—translated into over 52 languages—he has introduced millions to the joy and freedom of living life in the present moment. The New York Times has described him as “the most popular spiritual author in the United States”, and Watkins Review has named him “the most spiritually influential person in the world.”

Eckhart’s profound, yet simple teachings have helped countless people around the globe experience a state of vibrantly alive inner peace in their daily lives. His teachings focus on awakening consciousness, which transcends ego and discursive thinking, and can be seen as the next step in human evolution. In the awakened state of presence, we discover what Eckhart describes as our essential identity—who we are beneath the surface—and its power for transforming our selves and our world.

  1. Well, the answer is simple! Evil can only exist in duality. The thing that creates the Evil-Good duality is the Ego, so the Ego is the creator of Evil and so it can acquire a devilish nature when it degenerates and gets alienated. So simple the answer….?

  2. what do you mean with god? evil is ignorance in a selfish ape , and that's the nature of men. In presence faith has no place, why would you need such a thing when fear has no place. Assuming you are friends with a mystical genocidal bulling and clearly evil (selfish and ignorant) king does really gives you peace?. Illusions of a selfish ape …..

  3. "The more an entity is identified with form, the more seemingly evil the entity creates and the more suffering is created."
"Why are we here? We are here. Here is the arising of the answer. The answer is not just the answer; is also the end of the illusion of separateness and the end of so-called evil."
    Thank you.

  4. A weak answer, question was quite clear I thought. Consciousness creates everything we experience so why does it let evil come to pass or happen. I feel it’s a cop out to blame the ego or separate self etc. Is it possible that consciousness does not see things as good and evil but just what is.

  5. I'd rather use the word life instead of God as the God concept is nothing but life personified..
Second thing is if life is infinite then the process of awakening would be as well
Third thing is I think what Eckhart meant by God is perfect out of the realm of time he means the totality of the opposites not the ultimate omnibenevolence

  6. Das Ego des Geistes:

    Natur des Geistes ist
    Erkenntnisfähiges Licht…
    Das Ego des Geistes
    Missbraucht das Licht
    Um zu greifen nach
    Einem Selbst mein und mich…
    Das Ego kümmern
    Nur eigene Ziele
    Und sein kleiner blinder Wille
    Getrennt von der Welt
    Getrennt von sich selbst

  7. Yes
We ask Allaah (God) to protect us from evil created with His Word, The Holy Qur'an
Therein is healing, wisdom & Guidance
    Subhanallaah ♡♡

  8. Brilliant insights…theologians have been wrestler to the ground by such questions for centuries…your few minutes of insights gives a more satisfactory answer than hundreds of thousands of pages of left brain analysis…thank you E.T….you are a blessing.

  9. According to Tolle, God is "complete" and "perfect" outside of time. How did God not know what kind of damage it would do itself if it ever came to time to take on forms? Did it not know it would lose its awareness of itself and cause great suffering to itself? And why did it ever come to time to take form in the first place if it existed in "completeness" and "perfection" outside of it?

  10. “Evil is not real.” This is not wisdom. His explanation works well if things are getting better, but they are not. The world is getting worse. People are getting worse. Evil is becoming more ubiquitous.

Search your own heart and you will find evil. Confess it and own it and turn away from it and there’s hope for you.

This man is leading you down a path of destruction with his own intuition as he puts it. Don’t put your faith in this man! He’s making it up as he goes along. He’s clever; I’ll give him that but if this explanation made you feel warm and fuzzy inside, then something is very wrong with the explanation. Any discussion of evil that does not start with recognizing the evil in your own heart is foolishness.

  11. Correct `~Just like the cold is the absence of heat, and the hole is devoid of dirt, does not mean they are separate ~ evil only exists without God Yes, evil is separateness from God.

  12. Recently I read somewhere that source did not create evil. Source created the beings that create evil.
But. From my perspective, Source comes in, in countless forms, simultaneously & at different levels of awareness. Some form-frequencies remain extremely low & some gradually higher, then lighter they get & rarely a Tolle comes along who is a very lightened up being of source in form.
Back down the grid of heavier forms are the ones who know not what they do.
