  1. But why is asking if you were born in the US offensive? There are so so many immigrants in this country that there is a reasonable chance that someone wasn't actually born here. And what is so offensive about insinuating that you were born elsewhere? Is being born in America some sort of prize over everything else? So you're black and someone assumes you're from Nigeria or Ghana. Oh the insult. The travesty ?. Even if you're American and someone thinks you are from somewhere else…what is so wrong with that? Is being identified as American that great? You can simply tell the person that you are American or whatever. Easy. No need to be offended. Maybe it's because I'm an immigrant myself and think more highly of myself than some Americans might. But I am telling you that not being American is perfectly fine.

  2. What I love about this story is that I learned that maybe our failures, our trials, our suffering, may be preparing us for something great, even though we do don't see it at the moment. That maybe if she won the first time or the fifth time, she wouldn't have been Miss USA and the person that she is today. And that the challenges we face are shaping us to who we can be, but we only need the courage, the determination, and the belief that we can be far greater than who we are now.

  3. Every time I fail in my exam I come here and see this VDO…n get back to my preparation…this VDO is my motivation..one day I will succeed and want to feel how it feels to get that success

  4. This is so powerful. She is meant to tell this story. She became Ms. USA but more than that is that there is a person who believed in her. This will help a lot of people losing hope. If not you, then who?

  5. That is not the most offensive question you can ask a black woman there is worst than that black people can be born in other countries other than America. How is that even offensive
