So I'm selfish and self absorbed for being depressed thanks
I spent the first 25 years of my life abused by an alcoholic father. Life was dark and unfair, my mother chose to stay, and we all suffered in a toxic family environment daily. We didn’t abandon him… but I know what it did to me. We suffered for him to someday see him get better… Today, I run away from all forms of commitment bc I don’t want any more pain. I thought that leaving my alcoholic dad behind would take pain away… the pain never leaves you. Giving up doesn’t solve the problem. It will never solve the pain.
I've listened to this about 10-20 times every year for the last 4 years.. I wish I could say that this changed everything and its all gotten better but I'm still trying to figure it out… still I'm back and these words are comforting.. I'll try and check back in next year.
